Summary:

Nodame and her antics are back in full bloom, as she starts off charging through, literally, with a hand-drawn train on a whiteboard. Shortly afterwards, Chiaki finally returns to Paris in high hopes to spend Christmas with Nodame. Meanwhile, Nodame and her pals from the Conservatory take part in the special Christmas play set up by the Church. Because of Nodame’s “unique” acting and her usual energized self, the play turned out to be a great success (though some parts of it didn’t follow the original script). During this time, Chiaki becomes extremely agitated with how he thought Nodame did not care about him at all and forgot about their date. When Nodame finally started walking home, she meets with Chiaki on the way there, with Chiaki being totally ignored by her. He becomes even more so annoyed with her and has plans to “break-up”. Instead of the statement having the effect Chiaki expected, Nodame dispatches a beautiful roundhouse kick on him, knocking him to the ground. After having a bit of a scuffle, the episode ends with them making up again.

Review:

The series has been following up with the quirkiness of Nodame Megumi quite splendidly. The pace is surprisingly fast and leave viewers with a sense of awe after each episode. The musical sequences have been greatly enhanced and have a feeling of smoothness in them. Though not as emotionally exciting as the Live Action series, Nodame Cantabile does not cease to humor me with Nodame’s “Mukyaa!” and “Gyabo!”. The transition of the theme of “Nodame chasing Chiaki” that was portrayed in the first series to “Chiaki chasing Nodame” has also refreshed my interest in the series and understanding of the characters. I noticed how Chiaki’s past life is slowly being revealed to us bit by bit. My conclusion would be that this season is mainly focusing more on Chiaki’s history than the musical performances. That is probably the only weak spot in the series but is quickly overcome with the increased focus on Chiaki and Nodame’s relationship.
