Synopsis:
Nagasumi and San are now third year middle schoolers. They start off with a most depressing morning as the cast quickly realizes that Gouzaburou-sensei (aka San’s Dad) transfers Nagasumi to Class Zero, a class specially made for delinquents, which are ruled by an impossibly buff man named Emperor. Fujishirou Shark, the homeroom teacher of the class, calmly states the agenda for the day, which was to kill each other. Unfortunately, Nagasumi, who was seen as the weakest of the bunch, was targeted quickly by all the students, though by using his Max Evasion skill, he easily escapes them and heads for the Emperor with a chikuwa (tube-shaped fish-paste cake), but totally annihilated by his opponent’s RPG. San and Luna quickly come Nagasumi’s rescue, but only makes it worse when Luna calls out her special ops team to take out the punks. San, being attacked by the Emperor, causes Nagasumi to awaken to his true form and totally pwns him. Shortly after, Nagasumi attempts to stop the fight between Seto Gouzaburou and Luna-papa but trips upon his discarded chikuwa and is severely injured from the direct attacks from both sides.
Part 2 starts off with Nagasumi excited of being able to go on a date with San at the theatre, but his excitement is quickly halted when he finds out that Maki, the Seto family assassin, tagged along with them in secret. After deciding to watch Chivalry Death 4, the trio climbs to the seventh floor, where Nagasumi is assaulted with ice cream by a small elementary school girl. After the movie, an oil tanker crashes in the theatre and Nagasumi, after discovering that the girl was still on the 7th floor, rushes to rescue her. At the end of the episode, the girl is suggested to develop a crush on Nagasumi.
Review:
After waiting so long for the OVA, Seto no Hanayome proves to be again hilariously interesting. The jokes work, the facial expressions priceless, and pure fun involved in the episode live up to the Seto no Hanayome reputation. The highlight being when Nagasumi faces off with the Emperor using a chikuwa as a weapon. Being an OVA, I find it natural for the episode to have no special meaning in it or any chances of it becoming a full fledged side story, but I was slightly disappointed in the story. The OVA seemed like a regular episode in the original story. Other than the introduction of a new character, there wasn’t anything that would suggest a new plot or a new series. To those hoping for a second season, in my opinion, there won’t be one, though I do hope to get to know the new character a bit more .
